Tadelakt

A decorative lime plaster that originated in North Africa, it is special because of its beautiful smooth finish often with lots of variation in color hue and intensity.  The plaster is perhaps equally prized for its durability and water proof qualities. Tadelakt can be used to create shower surrounds or in bathroom sinks and bathtubs and as well as flooring and counter tops. We typically apply tadelakt in wet environments like showers but it could be used on walls anywhere plaster is appropriate.
Finishes:
  • Tadalkt is worked smooth with a trowel and often with a polished stone agate.
  • The plaster naturally contains a warm luster with dynamic movement developed by the artisan during the finishing process.

Services:
  • Application of Tadelakt type water resistant but vapor permeable lime plaster.
  • All preparation of wall surfaces and carpentry required to create a sound substrata in wet environments.
  • Education of the client on proper maintenance of their unique plaster.
  • A sample 2’ x 2’ of tadelakt in the specified color prior to application.
  • You really have to feel this material and see it in person to appreciate its full beauty.
Benefits:
  • As a natural lime material, it is nontoxic.
  • Tadelakt is highly alkaline and resists mold and fungi.
  • It is cleaned only with a natural olive oil soap periodically; the same type of soap which is used to create the water resistant qualities during application.
