Lime Plaster:  Traditional lime plaster walls have stood the test of time.  In America and many other countries lime plaster walls have lasted for centuries.  Lime plaster in traditional homes should last the life of the home but occasionally they will need some repair because of water problems or settlement.  Repairing interior plaster is very “green”.

In new construction or renovations new lime plaster can be applied over metal lath or existing drywall to create old world walls both interior and exterior.  Lime plaster can be applied over straw bale construction in both interior and exterior to create a truly beautiful, fully vapor permeable, super insulated and timeless home.

Veneer Decorative Lime Plaster is colored plaster.  This is a high end plastering process that will transform new construction. Decorative lime plaster comes in most any color and finish and can be applied over drywall.  We work with clients to create the perfect decorative wall finish.  See some of our samples

Tadelakt is one of many decorative lime plasters but it is unusual in that it is a very hard plaster that is also waterproof.  Tadelakt plaster originated in North Africa, it is often used  to create shower surrounds in bathrooms as well as flooring and counter tops. In Morocco it is used as interior and exterior plaster on houses.  The process of installing Tadelakt involves the application of olive to the new plaster during the curing process which is then polished into the plaster with an agate stone.  This is a very high-end plaster with an incredible “addictive” finished look... It is very smooth with a luster that makes everyone want to touch the walls.  Contact us for more information on tadelakt or to see some samples of our work.

Exterior Lime Plaster, Stucco or Parging: Many historic stone houses were originally covered in parging or plaster, also known as stucco.  This exterior plaster protected the masonry units and also kept the building less drafty.  Today, the fashion is to remove plaster from brick and stone exteriors. While we will remove old parging from your stone house and repoint it with lime, we can also repair existing exterior parging and can apply new two or three coat lime plaster to a variety of substrata including metal lath, and stone.  Traditional lime plaster is long lasting, flexible and vapor permeable, characteristics not inherent in cement plaster.  Lime plaster is carbon neutral, it has high alkalinity and resists moss, mold and other growth that is found in cement based plaster.
