Campbell Center Masonry Restoration Workshop 2007.  The Campbell Center for Preservation Studies is an educational center for many aspects of the preservation sciences.  I attended this workshop just prior to starting Preservation Works, so that I might get a different perspective on masonry restoration and lime mortar repointing.  John Lambert, a well know restoration mason and owner and founder of Abstract Masonry in Salt Lake City, Utah was just the person to offer alternative perspectives. The restoration of masonry, while it may at first appear rather straightforward, is actually fraught with variables that can make the difference between success and failure in a project.  Materials have varied so much over the many centuries of building in the United States alone that determining the best repair method takes some experimentation and some knowledge. The Campbell Center and John Lambert offered very interesting insights. It was a wonderful learning experience.
